Take note of the wires and their positions. Unscrew the gold, silver, and green terminal screws to remove the wires. Replace the wires on the new outlet, duplicating the previous positions. If you want to go the tape way then wrap a single layer of tape around the barrel of the plug that fits into the socket and try,if it is still loose add another layer until it is a tight fit. Thank you. I'm relieved it's not the socket.
