Mastalgia and breast cancer
WebMastalgia can be associated with premenstrual syndrome, fibrocystic breast disease, psychologic disturbance and, rarely, breast cancer. Occasionally, extramammary conditions, like Tietzie syndrome, present as mastalgia. A thorough clinical evaluation is required to assess the cause. WebMastalgia is described as tension, discomfort, and ache in one or both breasts [ 1 ]. The prevalence of cancer in patients manifesting with breast pain is reported to be 0-3.2% [ 2 - 5] and in one study up to 7% [ 6 ].
